What is a fence extension?
A fence extension is an add-on panel (often lattice or slatted) installed on top of an existing fence to increase its height. This helps improve privacy and security, or simply match a new design aesthetic.
When would I need a fence extension?
- More privacy from neighbours or passers-by.
- Greater security (e.g. to deter intruders, contain pets, keep kids safe).
- To update or refresh the look of your existing fence — for example, adding a decorative lattice top or slatted screening.
What materials and styles are available?
We custom-manufacture fence extensions in a variety of styles and materials. Options include: wood lattice (square, horizontal, or diagonal pattern), timber slatted extensions, or (on request) plastic lattice.
This flexibility lets you match the extension to the style of your existing fence or garden.
Can you match the extension to my existing fence?
Yes — because every extension is custom built to measure, we can size and style it to align with your existing fence. This includes matching lattice patterns, thickness, and overall finish.
Do you provide installation or only supply the extension?
Half Price Lattice offers full service: design, manufacture, and installation of fence extensions. Everything is made locally at their workshop in Jolimont and installed by their team.
Do I need permission from neighbours or council to extend my fence?
It’s a common question. Generally in Australia, adding a fence extension (especially one that increases total height) may require neighbour consultation or approval, depending on local council regulations.
